MAELSTROM aka "Anthony Merrill" lives in the U.K and has a strong passion for music. He not only manages the Parallax Sounds label but also creates beautiful, warm, lush, melodic, distorted, trancey, electronica music that's influenced by artists such as Aphex Twin and Boards Of Canada. MAELSTROM started in 1994. When he was born (in the early 70's), he became deaf! His mum wondered why he was ignoring her when she spoke to him, but she could see that he was tapping his foot to some music that was playing. The doctor came round and said that he was deaf and that he was feeling the vibrations on the floor. Years later, Maelstrom went on to do a Music Technology course, which helped him start his musical ambition. Maelstrom uses alot of old skool equipment to make music on, like an Atari STE, a 8 track machine, cubase vst music software. Maelstrom, uses a yamaha keyboard, Akai sampler, and mini disc recorder. Maelstrom has released a chilled out album called "Music For The 3rd Ear" (PS08) available now as a FREE mp3 download from the Prana Series section of Parallax Sounds.
