"Sjofn lives in a log cabin in the Chugach Mountains of Alaska where she writes, sings, and records her songs. Sjofn is noted for making raw, lo-fi, melancholic, and often quirky little folk songs. Some of her inspiration for making some of her tracks are from stories of her own personal random little dreams.
Sjofn's voice and music are enchanting and soothing to the soul, and the clarinet, played folk style, adds to her unique sound. Sjofn's music is her own but you hear the likes of Olof Arnaulds, Nina Nastasia and Mazzy Star."
Her band, Mountain Mission, features Sjofn (vocals, guitar, banjo, ukulele), Paul Monserrat (clarinet, tin whistle, banjo, vocals), and Leif Ericson (fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and various sounds). Wash-tub bass player Christina Brown is also a frequent guest player.
Sjofn is pronounced: Shoa-fen
