PARALLAX SOUNDS Records is a D.I.Y alternative music label. Parallax Sounds is a music movement of a nearby music star against the background of more distant music stars. Parallax Sounds is a music label that prides itself on following the blueprint of pioneering D.I.Y labels such as 4AD, Fat Cat, Rough Trade and Warp. Parallax Sounds aim is to follow the footsteps of John Peel in discovering and promoting brilliant alternative music. It's all about the music and opening the ears of people out there. Parallax Sounds was born in October 2008 at a time where it is increasingly difficult to survive in the music industry what with all the record shops and labels closing down and illegal downloading. It has become more of a challenge, but one good thing is that all the good alternative music has gone back underground again. There will be album and ep releases in these formats: CD/CD-R/Vinyl/MP3/WAV downloads, some MP3 downloads will be free aswell in The Prana Series and some releases will be distributed worldwide through physical shops like Rough Trade, and all the different digital distributors like itunes ect. Parallax Sounds is created by Anthony Merrill who is the Director/Founder of Parallax Sounds. After years of following music and making music under the name of "Maelstrom". He decided to create a music label to follow his passion further. A selection of albums, ep's, and download releases that cover a wide range of musical influences, genres, styles and forms. Parallax Sounds is alternative music based, including genres such as Indie, Electronica, Ethereal, Ambient, IDM, Cosmic, Psychedelic, Jazz, Dub, Trip Hop, Post Punk, Post Rock, Prog Rock, Post Goth, New Wave, Indie, Shoegaze, Folk, Folktronica & other genres. Parallax Sounds is an exciting, no compromising, alternative music label for great artists and bands that are known, unknown, or unsigned.
